Cooking with Kids, Create Your Own Omelet

Slumber party fun, we had the kids cook!

When my oldest daughter had a slumber party, we decided to have the kids cook breakfast (well, brunch, by the time they got up).  They had so much fun!

Create Your Own Omelet, Ingredients:

Large Eggs (2 per child)

Bacon Bits (real bacon)

Pepperoni

Pork Sausage, cooked

Cheese, shredded  (any kind)

Peppers, chopped and cooked

Onions, chopped and cooked

Fresh Mushrooms, chopped and cooked

More Fillings of Your Choice

Create Your Own Omelet, Toppings:

Tomatoes, diced

Green onions, chopped

Fresh Basil, chopped

Sour Cream

More Cheese, shredded

Salt and Pepper to taste

More Toppings of Your Choice

Create Your Own Omelet, Instructions:

We gave them each a small bowl and 2 eggs to cook.  We had multiple omelet fillings for the girls to choose from.  They cooked their eggs about half way in a small omelet pan.

Then they added the fillings of their choice and poured them in to  lightly greased mini fluted tube pan.

Help them bake the omelets until they were firm,  turn them over onto a plate, add the toppings of their choice, and enjoy.

The girls each had their own personalized omelets.  Each one of them unique!

I love the kind of days you can light a fire in the fireplace or have a bonfire and put on a big pot of soup to simmer and enjoy all day long. It brings about memories of gatherings we had when I was a child, when we all gathered together to share a bowl of soup.

  • Mango Fruit Leather
Mango fruit leather has turned out to be one of my kids' favorites. The sugar is totally optional, but it makes it much sweeter and cuts the tartness. The post Mango Fruit Leather appeared first on Mama’s Homestead.

This Lemon Lime Soda Jelly is delicious. I added a fresh lemon and a fresh l fresh lime to the mix to give it a rich, tangy flavor. It will make you pucker, a little. The post Lemon Lime Soda Jelly appeared first on Mama’s Homestead.

  • Cream Soda Jelly
Cream soda...do you like yours red or amber colored? I chose the amber colored version for my cream soda jelly. I like the flavor better. Plus, I added a teaspoon of vanilla, just for added vanilla goodness. The post Cream Soda Jelly appeared first on Mama’s Homestead.
