Mama’s Critics
Mama’s Critics are… my family, friends, and you!
My husband and my kids are allowed to criticize (constructively) my cooking (meals, baking, cake decorating, anything). They tell me what they liked, what they would change, or keep the same. They have to try anything new and not form any opinions before tasting it.
My friends (and my kids’ friends) are actually encouraged to give me constructive criticism when I bring a dish to their house or if they are invited to a get-together at my house.
I tweak it and make it just right and post it on here. It’s like having a test kitchen in my home!
My family also gives their opinions on things we do together or play together (crafts, day trips, vacations, books, toys, games, movies, and more).
Mama’s Critics!
Let me introduce them to you…
Chris-
Being Mama’s ‘most experienced critic’ and husband, Chris, is straight forward in his approach. I always know what he likes and doesn’t like. Seafood is his favorite food! He loves to play with the kids and is very involved in their activities. Chris enjoys gardening, coaching lacrosse, doing home improvement projects, watching movies, reading non-fiction books, and spending time with ‘Mama’.
Jacob-
Age 16. Being Mama’s ‘biggest critic’ takes up a lot of Jacob’s time! He always tells it like it is and there is never any doubt about what he is thinking. He is a bottomless pit when it comes to food and will eat just about anything. He enjoys playing guitar (electric and acoustic), listening to music, writing songs and poetry, cooking, watching TV and hanging out with his friends in his church youth group.
Zachary-
Age 14. Being Mama’s ‘empathetic critic’, he will eat nearly anything and not complain. Zachary is home schooled and likes to play video games, play on the computer, read books, and watch movies. He plays electric bass guitar and enjoys martial arts. His church youth group and home school friends are very important to him.
Graham-
Age 14. Being Mama’s ‘gentle critic’, he never tells me he doesn’t like something, unless encouraged to. If he doesn’t care for something, he tells me “it was okay” and what he doesn’t like about it, in a very nice way. Graham likes computer games, playing his Xbox 360, watching movies, reading books, and playing lacrosse. He also enjoys going to his church youth group activities.
Hannah-
Age 11. Being Mama’s ‘eager critic’, she is always ready to give me her best advice, especially in the kitchen. Hannah insists she doesn’t like cooked vegetables, but eats them anyway. She enjoys playing basketball and softball. She likes horses, clothing, books, helping in the kitchen, and playing with her American Girl Dolls.
Kaylan-
Age 8. Being Mama’s ‘helpful critic’, Kaylan always gives her input and helps out whenever she can. She doesn’t eat much, but will try nearly any dish set in front of her. She enjoys doing gymnastics, playing with her American Girl Doll, playing in her dollhouse, dressing up, watching movies and playing with her friends outside. Kaylan is home schooled. Her friends in our home school group and her big sister, Hannah, are important to her.
Nathan-
Age 2. Being Mama’s ‘youngest critic’, I can’t believe he is 2 already! He has a big personality and imitates his siblings a lot. He likes to sing, dance, and be the center of attention. If there is a ball to be tossed, he is there! He is a busy little guy. Nathan loves the meat and sweet foods, but will also eat his veggies.
Friends and Extended Family-
Being one of Mama’s ‘guest critics’ can be a fun job to have. They get to come to a get-together and tell me what they think. How often do you get to give your opinion to the hostess of the party? I love to hear what they have to say and take their advice very seriously.
You-
Being one of Mama’s ‘online critics’ can be loads of fun. You get to tell me what you think. What you think of my cooking/baking, the toys we choose, books we read, movies we see, the trips we take, and so on. Just make a comment! I want to hear from you!
